Every year from January to March, hundreds of migrating gray whales and humpback whales come to Baja to enjoy the warm, calm waters. Mothers teach their curious calves to tail lob, fin slap, and breech. Male humpbacks compete for the attention of a few females, and whale songs and dances fills the waters surrounding the peninsula as these titans of the sea escape the harshwinters up north. As these waters are home to ⅓ of the world’s marine mammals, it’s not uncommon to see dolphins, sealions, and possibly even other whales! Last year we had guest appearances from blue whales, fin whales, orcas, and massive pods of dolphins- you just never know what you might see in these rich waters!
